Indoor Easter Cricket Scheme

17 Feb 2016

Easter Cricket Camp

The club are going to run an indoor cricket scheme this Easter to be held at Bangor Aurora. Dates and times are as follows:

Tuesday 29th March                 10:00am – 12pm Ages 6-8         12pm – 2pm Ages 9-12

Wednesday 30th March            10:00am – 12pm Ages 6-8         12pm – 2pm Ages 9-12

Thursday 31st March                10:00am – 12pm Ages 6-8         12pm – 2pm Ages 9-12

The morning session for ages 6-8 will be similar to our summer scheme in that it will be soft ball Kwik cricket based. We will be doing batting, fielding and bowling. It is a fun programme that we have designed and will hopefully give the kids 2hrs good exercise in a safe learning environment.

For the afternoon sessions for ages 9-12, following discussions with parents last summer we set ourselves a longer term goal of having hard ball playing teams for children aged Under 11 and Under 13. The 12pm-2pm slot in the scheme will be our first steps in achieving that aim. Last year’s coaches Chris and Gavin will be taking this forward and it is hoped that starting with these harder ball sessions, interest will take off and we will have squads for each of the age groups by the summer. As a club we have bought pads, gloves, helmets and other cricket equipment so that parents wont be out any unnecessary costs for these teams. All that we ask is that children bring their own protective box for batting. (£1.00 from Sports Direct) We welcome any child aged 9-12 regardless of if they have played cricket or not and we have equipment here that they can freely use if they are just getting started.

The cost of the scheme is £15 per child (works out at £2.50 per hour). If there are 2 children from the same family (brothers or sisters) attending it will be £25.
